The fatgeorge GeoCoder.

The GeoCoder is a backend process which will take your locations/addresses and geocode them, storing the resulting longitude & latitude values in a custom table in your DNN database.

 

You now have the data you need to allow you to display your information on a map.

Use the core DNN Map module or a 3rd party module such as Netism Map Extreme to bring your location based information to life.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note: The GeoCoder is purely a backend process, it has no display capabilities.

Map2 The fatgeorge GeoCoder allows you to GeoCode anything in DNN that holds some form of address/location.

Currently it will GeoCode:

 

  • DNN Portal Users
  • Active Social only Users
  • Active Social Groups

The Example here shows AS Groups and Users, login and try creating a new group (remember to add some address detail).

If you edit your AS profile you will create an AS User record and will be included in the AS Users geocoding, remember to add some address detail.

The GeoCoder is a scheduled job which currently runs every 5 minutes.

Features to come in the fatgeorge GeoCoder:

  • XMod GeoCoding – geocode any custom XMod records.
  • Custom SQL – geocode anything in DNN that holds address details.
